Don Moore Compliments Greensboro Coliseum

February 7, 2010 – 2:25 am

This one deserves a blog headline all to itself.

As a converted coliseum cheerleader I started softening him up last year when I first met him at a Grasshopper’s game. I believe I told him that I’d pay his 60 cents per month if he’d stop Matt bashing.

And now for the first time ever Don Moore, the most vocal critic of the coliseum in fifty years, has posted a compliment to the facility.

Don, if you and Matt sit down for lunch at Stamey’s please let me know. I’d hate to miss that photo op.

  2. I wouldn’t say I was the most vocal critic of the coliseum, that’s giving me a little too much credit. There are far better letter writers to the News & Record with their bad experiences at the coliseum. (I quit attending most events at the coliseum because I know the sound will be bad, food expensive, parking expensive and there hasn’t been an event that interests me in several years that I would consider a bargain.)

As long as the coliseum is allowed to operate with a loss that is covered by the tax payers, I will be unhappy because not every civic coliseum loses money - some even are profitable.

However, the Parking Pass sent to Taxpayers through their Water Bill was a genius compromise. The tax payers got something of value (if they wanted it) and the coliseum could truthfully say they are giving back.

It’s not going to make me say let’s go to the coliseum; but you can’t argue with a gift that covers your tax contribution.

  3. Sorry to bring back the BASH….

How about that BUD LIGHT Advertising on the LED Ring last night at the Winter Jam 2010 (Christian) Concert? Nothing like a little Jesus Juice.
