Cordial County Commissioner Reveals RECALL Rumor?
January 25, 2010 – 2:58 pmAlthough the information in this post has been confirmed by a reliable source it should be considered rumor only until, or if an eyewitness comes forward. I was not present during this alleged conversation. This bizarre post now becomes a rumor about a rumor.
Here is the story as I understand it.
Two county commissioners and two city councilors met to discuss an agenda for a joint meeting between the two bodies in February. After the meeting one of the commissioners stayed to cordially discuss a rumor that he had heard. I think the wording was he was giving them a heads up. It’s important to note the meeting was over and this commissioner was not acting in the role as a county commissioner. I specifically asked that question.
The commissioner allegedly stated he had heard a rumor that a specific council member may bring up a proposed downtown hotel project at the Feb 2 meeting. The commissioner further stated that if the project was voted down at that meeting there may be a recall effort started against three specific councilors. And if it were voted down that two high profile figures that would be in town for a museum opening might take issue upon a white majority council rejecting a minority led downtown development project.
It was allegedly further stated that if that vote were going to take place that protests may also take place if certain councilors attended the opening of a downtown museum, essentially rolling up the welcome mat to these specific councilors.
More to come.
