Election Update: Check your CHECK MARK!
November 3, 2009 – 2:51 pmBeing the self proclaimed but not yet elected mayor of Adams Farm I’ll provide you with an update for precincts G65 and G66. G65 has been moved from Mackay Road to Hilltop Road near G66 with little or no signage at the road on Hilltop indicating the change.
That must not be a problem because by 1:00 both precincts have practically tripled their primary turnout. Low primary turnout resulted from D5 not having an early runoff.
But here is an issue. I clearly punched the box for Bill Knight for mayor. The check popped up on Yvonne Johnson’s name. I called for the precinct worker and he explained how to correct. I contacted the BOE and they stated they have heard similar reports today and it was related to machine calibration. If you’re paying attention you would catch this error before casting ballot. I’ll post if I hear more.
UPDATE: Bill Knight has confirmed he is getting calls from irate supporters who have experienced the same thing. Maybe we can get the machines calibrated tomorrow.
Trudy should get 70+% in these two precincts. I expect Knight, Vaughan, and Thompson to do well here also.
I’m hearing the NCDP workers are being paid to man certain polls and are not providing much information other than “duh” when asked questions. Impressive.

Perhaps the problem is that you “punched” the box. “Punching” is not necessary. All you need to do is TOUCH the box. THAT’S why it’s called a “touch screen.”
Try being a little more gentle, Tony.

You mean life in general jw?…or just in the voting booth?
You may be interested to know I saw Dottie at G65 and she hugged me and asked me to help on her campaign if she decides to run again.
Haven’t we all come a long way?

Looking at the results so far seems like a dramatic night in GSO. Good Luck, T!

I’d be very careful of charges made on voting day. One gets the feeling you are unaware of the potential consequences, legal and otherwise.

Not sure what you mean fec. It appears there were only a handful of these issues reported. I found out today that some of the same issues were reported last election. E-mail me at tony@tonywilkins.com with an explanation of what you’re talking about, if you will.
And thanks Jeff.

All voting machines have flaws and that is why NC Verified Voting recommends paper ballots with optical scanners. (remember multiple choice tests). We commissioned a study of 2008 election results comparing optical scan counties to touchscreen counties.

One would think that our board of elections are being run by democrats, because the way the voting machines were set up. In district 5 they placed the names directly above the fish bowl bond, and unless the voter looked very close they would miss voting for the candatiate
of the local district. That did not even work, Dr. Wade took the election by a land slide. Did you see the look on the out going Mayors face after the results of being defeated. Bill Knight will make a great Mayor for our city. It will take a while but I believe from the bottom of my heart, he is the person to get the problems of our fair city back in line!

Hopefully the supporters can meet some of the new Council Members at the Nov 21 fundraiser downtown!
