Arrogant Noer Column Just Political Backscratching?

You might just have to look as far as the deed holder on the Elon Law Building downtown (the old library) to justify David Noer’s arrogant description of our local representatives Trudy Wade and Mary Rakestraw in Sunday’s N&R Ideas section.

One just has to wonder why Mike Barber’s name wasn’t mentioned and to classify the time and thought process put into the decision to relieve MJ as city manager by Sandra Anderson-Groat and Zack Matheny as “false seduction of artificial unity” should require Noer to further explain that ridiculous description. There was nothing “false” or “artificial” in the emotion heard in SAG’s voice during this important decision as heard in the closed session taping. You could also tell that Zack Matheny had put a lot of thought in his decision. Noer should apologize to all three council members for this disgraceful account.

Update: Noer’s ratings on ratemyprofessor.com seem to justify my “arrogant” description. from ratemyprofessor.com:

In your groups (you don’t get to select) at the beginning of class should you come across any problems he will not help or sympathize. The material is very interesting and it is a shame that he portrays it so poorly…
• ·          His class is so boring, and he’s an awkward man. He thinks he’s an incredible writer, yet makes grammatical errors when grading…? Classes are fairly worthless and you will have to memorize far too much useless information. Its a fairly easy class… just painful to sit through. And dont buy a book!
• ·          This class is absolutely useless and you will have to memorize random data of no importance. I had over 200 note cards of random names, dates, and definitions that we had to memorize. This is the absolute worst class I have ever had and I’m a Senior. Do not take this class whatever you do
• ·          yawn. so boring. all he does is read off overheads and make you do STUPID “exercises” with group members. his grading is VERY unclear.
• ·          One should be able to write before one attempts to teach a business course.
• ·          Pointless. Don’t even try to understand his grading system.
