Why Did N&R Reporter Single Out Yow?
May 24, 2008 – 1:35 pmThe N&R chose to front page bold headline a comment made by Billy Yow at the Thursday commissioner’s meeting and by their own accounts the same comment, or a variation of it, had been made twice previously during meetings by other commissioners.
I’m not defending it as appropriate but Yow was obviously joking when he said it as were the other two commissioners.
Why did Yow’s comment make headlines and not the other two?
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. The worst (do not mistake that for one of the worst) problem we have with racial relations in this community is the News & Racial, er, I mean News & Record.

I second that motion! I was so disgusted with that story that my morning coffee didn’t taste as good as it should have. Dammit anyhow! The N&R forced me to add a bit of Bailey’s Irish Creme to my coffee just to make it palatable. Wonder if I can sue them for contributing to the drunkenness of a Senior Citizen? BB

BB..i am so with you..i vomited in my mouth when i read that and had to gargle with the good stuff i keep in my freezer. i kept looking for the sex in the story to see why it was newsworthy, then remembered what my grandmother told me…”Boy, youre dealing with a bunch of professional presstitutes..if you’re reading a newspaper and dont see the sex in the story….cover your tiny little taterhole ’cause youre the one getting screwed”. God i miss her.

BB:That story drove me to drinking but it was a very short drive. I already had the lid off. This story will give Robin L an excuse to resume. I’ll have to rent a tux because she gets remarried every time she starts back up.

Defenders of Satan: Get sick , second your emotions and anesthetize yourselves all you want, but this N&R narrative has Pulitzer Prize written all over it and I dont mean the piano people. The Devil, disguised throughout human literary and church history as aspostates, jews, cathlicks(who drink the jews’ blood), witches, abolitionists, slave owners, reconstructionists, Hitler, Stalin, Islam, the Pope and bin Ladin, has been identified by the N&R. Without the exposure from these fact foragers from the fourth estate, how would you self-medicators know who the boogeyman was? Is this something humans want the responsibility of deciding for themselves? Not in human history-it was unsafe and you obtained fewer oppurtunities to produce offspring. Best you clowns can do is grab some dry twigs and help tallow up the fellow disguised as a honest businessman.

Tony I have no idea why the N&R would single poor Mr. Yow out like that. Obvously it is soooo uncharacteristic for him to say something racist or ignorant. I guess it is just another case of “the man” trying to hold someone down. I think in general it is a compliment to say that a racial group “all look alike”. I thought it was really a compliment and very sensitive to the black community in general. Keep up the good work Billy!

So what made you feel differently when Bruce Davis and Linda Shaw said it?

Tony: Pardon me while the coprolalia theme is ripe. Its a relief when your dog poops in the yard. Sometimes you reward the critter for his good manners. But you dont want your neighbors dog using your turf as a latrine. Even if the two dogs look alike.

Here I go again: A long time ago I went to the barber shop of Jimmy Bishop on Randleman Road of Guilford County. I did not know Billy Yow, Jimmy told me me had told Billy to represent the folks of our county with honor. That he did not live in our County but if he did and would respecet his wish as Billy stated to him that he was working for all citizens of Guilford County, he would support him in always possible. The barber shop in on the Guilford/Randolph County line.
I listened to Jimmy and at that point I supported Billy Yow as a brother, it is my opinion that Billy has represented us well. He has and will work for the small folks and what I am talking about is not the folks who have a lot of the dollars, but has also represented the folks with dollars as well. In other words get off his rear end and let him do his job. And Skip and his croneys kiss off.
